Peter Stoltzman: Bridge to Peace

With music blending elements of Indian kirtans, gospel and chamber jazz, and trance-inducing grooves from Afro-Caribbean traditions, “Bridge to Peace” is an invocation in collaboration with audiences: a cross-cultural journey to stir souls, spread empathy, and pray together for peace between nations, communities, and ourselves.

With artistic direction by pianist and composer Peter John Stoltzman, this new work will feature a lineup of world-class artists, including Venezuelan bass virtuoso Gonzalo Teppa, Malian kora master Yacouba Sissoko, percussionist Rich Stein, saxophonist Adam Gang, and longtime Cirque du Soleil music director Joshua Geisler on the Indian bansuri flute, synth, and electric guitar. Cultural Caravan Artistic Director Josh Halpern will also perform with the ensemble.

The concert will be a journey across five pieces—Tranquility, Conflict, Yearning, Reconciliation, and Peace. Audiences and performers will have the opportunity to contribute their ideas to a recorded sonic tapestry that will meld with the music; weaving our…
