On Thursday, September 17, the Cultural Caravan hosts a concert by Gabriel Santiago plus an information session by local organizations helping immigrants, including how to get involved. Please join us for this important event, and bring everyone you know!
While headline news about ICE has abated since their incursion into Minneapolis earlier this year, their practices have only intensified the pain and fear for families and communities across the country. In July alone, ICE arrested a record 51,000 people—many of them actively engaged in legal pathways to immigration—detaining them in overcrowded conditions where unsanitary and inadequate food and water, medical negligence, and physical and sexual abuse by guards are the norm. This brutality is by design: detainees are choosing to self-deport rather than endure inhumane conditions indefinitely, and suicides inside these facilities are occurring at a pace unprecedented in the agency's two-decade history.
